How Did Kanye West and Adidas’ Most Recent Conflict Begin?
Adidas debuted its Adilette 22 sandals in May, which are quite similar to West’s Yeezy Slides. So, according to Highsnobiety, the rapper called out the company on Instagram on June 13. The slides are supposed “a phony YEEZY created by Adidas themselves,” according to a now-deleted caption that West wrote.
According to Highsnobiety, West said, “I’m not standing for this obvious copying anymore criticizing Adidas CEO Kasper Rorsted.
There are similarities between West’s Yeezy slide and the Adilette. They are both thick slide sandals in a neutral color and are in the same price range. The analogies were not addressed by Adidas.
Since 2019, Adidas has celebrated Yeezy Day in the first week of August each year. West contacted Complex this year to clarify that he in no way approves of the day. “Adidas conjured up the Yeezy Day idea without my agreement,” he stated in a direct message to the publication, adding that the firm reissued vintage Yeezy models, updated colorways, and hired new personnel, particularly for the brand without consulting him.
Kanye West Keeps Slamming Adidas Executives
Early in September, West used Instagram once more to lambast top Adidas officials, accusing them of stealing his ideas and excluding him from crucial meetings on products and strategy.
Also in a deleted post, West penned, according to Okayplayer “It’s pretty bizarre that Adidas believed they could change the name and color of my sneakers without getting my permission. Building something that will alter the world and that I can leave my children is something I take very seriously. They attempted to buy me out for $1 billion USD. My royalties alone will total $500 million USD in the upcoming year.”
Some of Kanye West’s well-known friends have gathered around him to show support and even boycott the athletic company amid the rapper’s wrath at Adidas.
